Weeping Window Poppy Display at Caernarfon Castle

While my parents were visiting a few weeks ago, we were lucky to make a visit to Caernarfon Castle — a literal gem of a castle along the coast of North Wales. Caernarfon is always a good day out as it is really a fantastic castle, especially considering that it dates back earlier than the 15th century. (What!?!)

Our visit to Caernarfon Castle was particularly special as it was one of the first days of the Weeping Window Poppy display. The Weeping Window is a travelling exhibition, following the commission at the Tower of London, marking the Centenary of the First World War.

And we were lucky enough to have stunning October weather, allowing us to spy Snowdonia in the distance!

The display at Caernarfon is the last Weeping Willow display in 2016, so if you are the UK (or Wales, perhaps) the trip is worthwhile to see the poppy display. The poppies are on display at Caernarfon Castle until 20th November.  It’s free to visit the castle, but you need to book tickets in advance which you can do  here .
