Hi friends and happy Monday! For today’s Positivity Monday and as part of Blog Everyday in May, I thought it would be grand to share 10 things that always makes us happy when we are stressed or blue.
Here are my 10 fail proof ways to feel a bit more happy:
Long Hot Showers: I have way to many lotions and potions to count, and I love nothing more than a hot shower to destress and gain a clear perspective.
Puppy Snuggles: There is something about getting snuggles from a dog. It is energetic and loving and simply wonderful. No matter how stressful or tiring my day was, my mood is instantly lifted with snuggles from Fred.
Office Supplies: Yes, I am that girl. I love a new round of office supplies, like no one’s business. Blank notebooks and colored pens make my heart go aflutter.
Dance Parties: As I am sure that you have guessed by now, but I am a big believer in the power of breaking out into dance. I dance at work, at home…even sometimes at Costco (much to the embarrassment of Neal). To me, dancing both creates and expresses joy a perfect mood booster.
Strong Cups of Coffee: On days when I am feeling a bit slumped for energy or good juju, I find that a strong cup of coffee (paired with comfy sweats) gives me a bit of rest awhile brightening my spirit.
A Man and His Dog: Each morning, my bus to work drives through a small village where as if on clockwork, I can spot a man walking his corgi. I love how dedicated he is as a dog owner, everyday 7:15, rain or shine. The little corgi looks so happy it brightens my drive to work.
Beach Days: We are fortunate enough to live close enough to the seaside to be able to visit on the weekends on the whim. Neal and I will pack a lunch, treats for Freddy and head to the coast. No matter what my mood is before arriving, once I am at the beach I instantly feel better. The fresh sea air, the calming waves… it calms my soul and makes me feel like myself again.
Classic Movie Marathons: I love snuggling up on the couch, with coffee in hand, and watch classic movies. From Some Like it Hot, Gone with the Wind, Sound of Music, Breakfast at Tiffany’s…I love them all. There is something special about the way that classic films were directed and produced, they feel special, almost like a big event. And making the time in my busy modern day to enjoy a classic film resets my pace a bit and reminds me to take it slow.
Fresh Flowers: I love fresh flowers in vases around the house. The bright colors lifts my mood way beyond the cost of the bouquet. I find myself picking up a bunch of flowers after a really stressful day, to brighten my mood when I am at home.
Calls Home: I may be 33 years old, but there is something great about calling home that makes me feel wonderfully happy. We can pick up a conversation without a missed beat, laugh about silly moments and chat about good old ‘family’ stuff.
Can’t wait to see what brightens your day my friends!
