Yes! It’s Monday. Don’t get me wrong, I love my weekends filled with adventures and exploring in Wales. And it’s been especially nice having our lovely guests from America these past few weekends. But there is something about a fresh slate of Mondays. Another chance to make an impact, to grow, to be challenged and to thrive.
How do we approach a new week? For me, it’s all about a perfect blend of Hustle and Heart when looking to conquer my next week. Here are a few ways that I bring a little Hustle and Heart to my day-to-day work life.
Arrive on Time
I believe that being punctual is a virtue, and is highly valued. Even when my schedule is busy as a bee, I aim to be at least five minutes early for calls or meetings. It helps me get a deep breath, calibrate and get settled.
In my line of work of digital marketing, it’s important to stay ontop of trends, research, strategy and even national news. I try to spend a few minutes each day catching up on news and trends. I save interesting articles to a big ol’ folder in Evernote, and every once in a while check if anything is relevant for the situation.
I think ideas are the best way to step forward, and have a little everyday hustle. I like to share ideas and inspiration from my Evernote files, either to colleagues or team members, brainstorm new ideas and solutions. Ideas and constant inspiration is key!
Care about Your Co-Workers
I like to keep my eye on my team members, and give a little support if needed. Especially in a team, if someone is having an off day that can quickly impact the energy of the rest of the team. By being proactive, positive and leading with heart I can help to stay course forward.
It’s important to have a little heart for myself during the day. I try (as often as possible) to get fresh air at lunchtime, meditate when I am feeling stressed and take a few minutes to stretch. With a few minutes of self care, I am able to get a fresh brain and a new outlook for problems.
Bring Joy & Fun
Sure, being at work is not like a walk in the park. It can be stressful, exhausting, demanding and more. It’s called work for a reason, right? But at the same time, it can be fun, especially when working in a creative environment. I try to celebrate when we have a ‘win’ with high fives, treats and even sending e-mails with emojis. For me, it’s important to bring joy to my professional life because it helps me to stay excited and productive consistently!
And as we enter this brand new week, a fresh clean slate, let’s keep this in mind:
