Hotel Break Lake Vyrnwy, Wales // Wild & Wondrous Wales

Well hello my little kittens, and welcome to another edition of Wild & Wondrous Wales! This week, I will be sharing the magical little gem of the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel located in mid-Wales,  where we stayed last weekend. Now, Lake Vyrnwy is just about 1 1/2 hours from home for us, so we were able to leave work a bit early on Friday to head to the hotel allowing us to arrive just at 5:45 pm. I have to admit the hotel was charmingly elegant.  With exposed beams, roaring fireplaces and lush details Lake Vyrnwy was a fantastic retreat, nestled along untouched wilderness.

The package that we had included a garden view room, 5 course dinner {what!} plus breakfast the next morning.  We decided to upgrade the room for another  £40, to a premium lake view room and it was well worth it.  {The views from the room were amazing! As you’ll see below!}  The room also featured a gorgeous bath {which I happily tested with a bubble bath} plus a four poster bed.

Our dinner was beyond delicious, with starters like cherry pesto tart and hamhock, or mains like Salmon and shoulder of lamb. Oh, and the dessert like a coffee crème brulee? Yeah, I was swimming in gourmet goodness. It’s safe to say, we didn’t leave dinner slightest hungry.  In fact, we were content little kittens.

 Yummy

The real treat for me, was waking up bright and refreshed on Saturday morning to be greeted with this view….

Simply divine, right?  We lounged around a bit then headed to breakfast where we enjoyed a full English breakfast and cold buffet. We left Hotel Vrnyny feeling relaxed, refreshed and as if we had been away for a few days not just a mere 12 hours. The hotel was that relaxing!

Neal and I are already talking about making another trip to the hotel, next time for the whole weekend of relaxing.   Next time, I am thinking a spa treatment for sure! And being so close to home, it is ideal for a mini-break…perfect for recharging some weary batteries!

What about you? Have you ever taken a mini-break close to where you live?  Sometimes, sleeping in a hotel bed and getting a little pampering {like not having to cook or do dishes} is all I need to get a pep in my step.

Happy Wednesday my loves!
